Unethical behaviors on social media can divides into several different kind, like paid tweets, impersonate other people, employees posting affects company’s image and so on.
Paid tweets need to consider the person’s motivation behind it, some companies hire people to act as customers to tweet, some celebrities help build new brand awareness. Identity thefts like to impersonate others, we can mark these account red flag and report them. Employees posting interests conflict with company is unethical and unprofessional.
I discussed each situation with others, I visited Corinne’s blog, she talked about defamation happens at workplace and how to prevent it. One is provide training programmes to educate employees, and the other is keep tracking company’s social platform. There are some other approach like add your colleagues to your friends, and have a agreement between you and company.
From Ebrahim’s blog, we both agree more and more people using social network will arise exposure more and more ethical issues. There is a chance people feel safe behind the screen, and they posted something was in a mood. The code of ethics we follow whether is online or offline should be consistent. Some tweets waste police resource, taxpayers fund, company resource and cause panic in society.
How a person use social network may different from another, but inappropriate use of social media may weaken its total value. Sometimes, things happened offline just a few people know it, if we posted online, the whole world could know it. Emotion management is not conduct under social network, it is unethical and unhealthy to do it. Performing a good image online is an learned adult behavior. Social network will be more and more common, web etiquette is common knowledge and appreciate it. [words 299]
